i noticed this boy on my way to the train station, his suitcase stuffed with dirty socks and science books, waiting for his tardy uncle who is predictably late to pick him up at a nearby parking lot.
my work is inspired by the spontaneous connections i form with people within an expansive urban context.
by tracing individual narratives, the human spirit becomes magnified and illuminated, unearthing that which resides beyond the surface. it becomes effortless to discern tremendous beauty in the peripheral, in the stranger pondering his existence, or a stray dog roaming about.
in painting i find great liberation, immense joy, inner freedom, and unexpected answers in my ever-evolving quest for expansion in mind and spirit.
i have travelled extensively, and have exhibited in New Orleans, New York, Austria, and Cairo, Egypt.
